Flounder fishing continues to improve with the fish moving into deeper water near the inlets. Recent weigh-ins includes Jim Ryan 6.25lb flounder, Tony Hoffman 4.5lb flounder, and Richard Jones 5.0lb flounder. Anglers are catching the flatties on squid/minnow combos and Berkley Gulp baits. Capt. Mike on the Stray Cat Charters reports that the fish are thick and itís time to get off the sofa. Mike is available for an up to date fishing report and charter information. Visit his web site under BOATS. Kingfish catches have picked up along the beach using bloodworms or artificial baits.

Welcome Fellow Anglers, 6/8/06

Flounder season has gotten off to a great start here in South Jersey. Recent catches include Tony Hughes of Marmora with a 5.46 lb flatty and Dan Rodriguez of EHT with a 7.37 lb. doormat. Ships Channel and Rainbow Channel were the locations for these nice fish. The size and bag limit remain the same as last year, 16.5 inch size and 8 fish per angler bag limit. Striped Bass are also being caught around the bridges and in the surf. There have been some nice fish weighed in from the beaches of Brigantine recently. The following fish were all caught off the north beach in Brigantine, Bobby Ferri 36.25 lb, Jeff Bell 30.33lb, and Paul Lavigna 25lb. All fish were taken on fresh clam. The size and bag limit for striped bass is 2 fish per angler at 28 inches or greater.
